    To allow delegates to recognise hazards, utilise control measures and safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment, concentrating on risks specifically found with working on a Petrol Filling Station.

    On course completion delegates will:
    • Demonstrate their understanding of the subjects by successfully completing each module assessment paper
    • Appreciate how they personally can influence good standards within Health and Safety and the Environment
    • Understand the value of risk assessment and have the knowledge to recognise when changes to a generic assessment is required
    • Understand the common hazards associated with working in this sector

    Microsoft Teams MUST be installed beforehand to ensure you can participate successfully.

    Contractors working on petrol station forecourts who already hold a valid safety passport that requires renewing. This must be done in the 6 months leading up to the expiry date of their Safety Passport. If your passport has expired, you must attend the SPA Petrol Retail Contractors Safety Passport course.

    Note: Delegates must bring their existing SPA Safety Passport card to the course. A passport sized photo is not required for the refresher course.

    Core Day Exemption
    If you’ve previously attended an SPA approved Health & Safety course, you can apply for the DAY 1 exemption. 

    If you qualify for Core Day Exemption, you only need to attend (DAY 2 - Petrol Retail). You must provide evidence of exemption (i.e. copy course certificate) at the point of booking. 

    At present the SPA passport scheme recognises that delegates who have completed and passed the following training courses and have 3 months* or more remaining on their evidence of exemption do not need to attend the SPA passport scheme Core training day (Day 1): 
    • IOSH Working Safely 
    • CCNSG Passport to Safety 
    • IOSH Managing Safely 
    • IOSH Supervising Safely 
    • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety 
    • CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) 
    • FÁS Safe Pass 
    • ADT H&S module 
    • NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals 
    • CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) 
    • CITB - Site Safety for Shopfitters and Interior Contractors  

    For those without an expiry date they must have been obtained within the last 3 years. Call 0345 605 0006 to book the exemption course.

    Virtual Classroom

    This course will be delivered via video conferencing using Microsoft Teams Virtual Classroom. This allows two-way communication, ensuring the course is interactive with delegates having the opportunity to ask questions. Each delegate in attendance must have a webcam and microphone, to provide evidence of identity and the ability to answer all examination questions.
