    This refresher course is designed to support delegates in maintaining an overview of thorough examination processes for in-service portable lifting equipment, in line with LOLER 1998, PUWER 1998 and other relevant legislation. 

    It aims to help delegates: 
    • Refresh their ability to identify defective or damaged portable lifting equipment 
    • Review rejection criteria and management of damaged equipment registers 
    • Understand the certification that should accompany lifting equipment 
    • Reinforce their responsibilities as a person involved in lifting equipment inspection 
    • Review planned maintenance of portable lifting equipment under legislation 
    • Refresh knowledge of producing thorough examination reports and certificates as per Schedule 1, LOLER 1998

    Yes. Delegates should already hold relevant Thorough Examination training or experience be familiar with lifting accessories covered in the syllabus. Delegates must also have a good understanding of written and spoken English, be at least 18 years old, in good health, and physically fit to take part in all aspects of the training.     The course combines classroom theory covering legislation, inspection requirements, and reporting with practical exercises inspecting lifting accessories such as slings, chains, shackles, eyebolts, hoists, and clamps.

    Q7. What should I bring on the day?
    Please bring your current Thorough Examination certification. PPE: Delegates must wear comfortable workwear, safety boots, hi-vis vest/jacket, hard-hat (preferably with a chin strap), protective gloves, eye protection, safety footwear, long-sleeve top and trousers (shorts are not permitted).
