    This two-day course aims to help delegates develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to work safely at height within a wind turbine environment.

    Through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on training, the course focuses on the safe use of basic personal protective equipment (PPE), safe working practices at height, and carrying out basic rescue procedures.

    The course also aims to promote positive manual handling and ergonomic behaviours, supporting delegates in carrying out manual handling tasks safely and responsibly.

    • An overview of relevant Working at Height (WAH) legislation
    • Selection, use, and inspection of equipment
    • Safe systems of work and planning activities 
    • Permits 
    • Emergency procedures 
    • Self rescue techniques 
    • Evacuation methods 
    • Manual handling risk controls and correct handling techniques

    This course is aimed at delegates who are new to the renewable energy sector and need an introduction to working at height and manual handling within a wind turbine environment.

    Before attending, delegates are required to register on the GWO WINDA database via the Global Wind Safety website. Registration is free and can be completed online. Delegates should also bring their WINDA ID with them to all booked training courses. 

    Parts of the course are physically demanding and include climbing a 16-metre vertical ladder. Delegates should be medically fit to take part and will be asked to complete a medical declaration on arrival.

    Q4. Who is this course suitable for? 
    This course is suitable for new entrants to the renewable energy sector including technicians, engineers, and site operatives, working at height or performing manual handling. It aims to help delegates understand risks, safe practices, and regulations.

    Delegates must be registered on the GWO WINDA database via the Global Wind Safety website before attending. Delegates should be at least 16, in good health, and physically fit to take part in practical activities, with a good understanding of written and spoken English. All delegates will be expected to climb a 16m vertical ladder and complete a medical declaration upon arrival.
