    The aim of this course is to cover the technical requirements for the installation of electric vehicle charging points. It follows the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation and BS 7671. This award is for competent electricians who wish to gain an understanding of the requirements for electric vehicle charging equipment installations, and who are already conversant in inspection and testing and the wiring regulations.

    This is a 2 day course run over the course of 2 weeks – 1 day a week for 2 weeks.

     

    The topics this course will cover are the following:

     
    ·        Understand the key requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment
    ·        Recognise the types, modes and requirements for electrical vehicle charging
    ·        Understand the design, preparation and assessing suitability of earthing and supply types
    ·        Understand inspection and testing of electric vehicle charging installations
    ·        Understand financial incentives and how they are applied
    ·        Understand the certification, commissioning and notification of electric vehicle charging equipment

     

    Delegates attending this course will require the following books:


    ·        IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation 4th edition

    This course is aimed at practising electricians, designers, managers and supervisors with the appropriate competency or responsibility for the following installations:

    ·        Domestic; Part P competent or similar
    ·        Commercial; Registered Electrical Contractor
    ·        On Street; HERS Competence

    Delegates must provide evidence that they are a practicing electrician and hold one of the following:

    ·        Completed Installation Electrical Apprenticeship with The Focus Training Group
    ·        Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance)
    ·        Level e Electrotechnical Qualification
    ·        Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker
    ·        Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services
    ·        Level 3 NVQ Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification
    ·        Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings
    ·        Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker Qualification
    ·        EAL Building Services Engineering (Level 3) – Electrotechnical Installation
    ·        Equivalent historical qualifications
    ·        ECS Gold Card for a Domestic Electrician, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card

    Delegates must have a good understanding of the requirements of the current edition of the BS7671 Wiring Regulations.

    Delegates MUST be over the age of 18 years old.
