    This one-day update course is intended for qualified electricians who have recently completed the 18th Edition course. It focuses on the technical and regulatory changes introduced in Amendment 4, aiming to ensure practicing electricians remain compliant with BS 7671:2018+A4:2026. 

    From the 15th of April 2026, Amendment 4 becomes the current standard. Electricians holding the 18th Edition (2382-22) must update Amendment 4 by 15th October 2026 to remain industry compliant.

    This course aims to provide structured guidance through the key technical changes introduced in Amendment 4 and how these changes affect real-world installation, certification, and compliance responsibilities.

    • Functional earthing requirements for ICT systems (Section 545)
    • Stationary secondary battery installations (Chapter 57) 
    • Power over Ethernet (PoE) and ELV DC distribution (Section 716)
    • Low-voltage generating sets (Section 551)
    • Updates relating to medical locations
    • Changes affecting firefighter's switches
    • Revisions to inspection and testing guidance (Chapter 81)
    • Clarifications on wiring systems with ferromagnetic enclosures

    The previous edition of the IET Wiring Regulations (Brown book) will no longer be supported after 15 October 2026. After this date, please purchase the latest 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (Orange Book).

    Entry Requirements

    • Delegates must hold a valid 18th Edition (2382-22) qualification
    • Please bring a copy of your qualification/certificate on the day. Unfortunately we are unable to admit delegates without proof of eligibility, and course fees will still apply.

    Successful delegates will receive a City & Guilds accredited certificate confirming compliance with BS7671:2018+A4:2026.

    Q7. Who is this course for? 
    The course is intended for those who have recently completed 18th Edition training before Amendment 4 came into effect and need to update their knowledge to remain compliant. Existing 18th Edition certificate holders can take this update course. Those without the qualification must complete the full 18th Edition course instead.

    Q8. Are there any entry requirements?
    Delegates must be at least 16 years old to attend this course and hold a prior BS 7671 qualification (18th edition). Please bring a copy of your certificate on the day of training. Delegates should also have a good understanding of written and spoken English.

    How the Training Works 

    Q9. Is this course classroom-based or practical? 
    The course is delivered in-person, primarily classroom-based with discussions and examples illustrating how Amendment 4 updates apply in practical electrical installations.

    Q10. What should I bring on the day? 
    To complete the training and assessment, please bring your latest BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 edition qualification, a scientific calculator with square root function, and photo ID (passport or driving license). Missing any of these items will prevent you from sitting the exam and full course fees will still apply. 

    Some training venues are live operational sites that may also require PPE to access your classroom, which includes safety boots, hi-vis vest/jacket, hard hat, gloves, long sleeve top and trousers (shorts are not permitted).
